Carmen Tapia and Karen “Izzy” Simon have been diligently working away to secure permission slips from primaria parents.  Izzy has made nametags for each of the children and organized the permission slips and treatment sheets, accompanied by sheets from past history.  All organized by class.

This week, Dr Hugo, friend of Dr David (Dr. Adrian Malja’s dental office in Bucerias), will score each child 1-4.  1 means no dental issues, clean and seal only.  2 means, maybe 1 cavity, then clean and seal.  3 means perhaps two visits for work, then clean and seal.  4 means multiple visits and then clean and seal.  The dentists are full service, from extraction to drill/fill and if needed, provide funds for the child to see a pediatric specialist.

Along the way there are smiles when children are working with the dentists.  The team of 40 from Idaho, break into two groups, taking alternate days at the clinic.  The Kids Club is the site of the clinic, stop by, it’s amazing to see the work in progress.  It’s truly inspiring.

The clinic itself is set up on Saturday, May 4 – and the actual clinic takes place Monday through Thursday Noon – May 6, 7, 8, 9.
