Spring has arrived and so has the windy season. The sailors, kiteboarders, and windsurfers all look forward to this time of year. The children are taking advantage of the breeze to fly the kites they have been making the last couple of weeks. They chose several different designs including the classic diamond “cometa”, delta/triangles, and dragon kites with long tails. It is a great physical and mental exercise for the kids, running, launching, retrieving lost kites, and problem solving to correct and trim the flight of their kites.
The younger children read the book “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein. It is a renowned children’s book that addresses topics such as generosity, selflessness, and gratitude. The children enjoyed several pre-reading and post-reading reflections and created paintings of their own “giving trees” that show gratitude for the things they have.
