The Kids started playing a new sport this week. We began learning the fundamentals of baseball, throwing, catching, batting, and the basic rules. They are “catching” on quickly and are having a great time. Few of the students have seen a game played, much less played, but they are eager to learn. It is a good exercise in hand-eye coordination for them.
Our volunteer Karen had another special class teaching magic tricks this week. The children really enjoyed learning some of the sleight of hand and illusions used in common magic tricks.
Students also began reading a series of books focused on inquiry and investigation. Some of the titles include: ” Do Elephants Enjoy the Beach?” and “Can a Monkey Waterski?” . They are a fun and interesting series to develop their skills of reading for information.
Our young artists are practicing their painting skills by recreating scenes from around La Cruz. Their art includes subjects of nature, people, and other iconic sites around town. Their art will be made into cards and postcards that will be available for sale at our fundraising event on february 29th.
