This week at Kids Club the children have taken their study of the color wheel in art to another level by learning how colors can create or invoke mood or feelings in art. The students reinforced this concept by reading a book titled “Monstruo De Colores” (Color Monster). The book displayed the different characters of the monsters through their colors. The children invented their own “monsters” and expressed their characteristics and personalities through their colors. The children really enjoyed this activity. This activity was also reinforced in their English/language classes by learning and practicing the colors in English and identifying the colors of their classmates’ monsters.
Kids continue practicing the days of the week and month in English, as well. In Music and Dance, the children are learning how to tune their ukuleles. We danced “machetes,” introduced the girls to skirt dancing, sang/played the song “La Guacamaya,” and read the story of “Anansi and the Talking Melons.”
Groups A and B in the afternoon: We learned to “spot” while spinning, and sang/played “La Guacamaya.”
