✨ CELEBRATING MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE, NEW TEACHERS & EXCITING NEW ACTIVITIES AT KIDS CLUB! 🎨🎶📚🇬🇧

It was another exciting week at Kids Club, full of learning, culture, music, English, creativity, and new beginnings! We are excited to share some of the special moments happening in our community. ❤️

📚 A VERY SPECIAL VISIT FROM OUR NEW TEACHER

This week, Karla came to Kids Club to introduce herself to our children, as she will soon become part of this amazing community.

We are so excited to welcome Karla to the Kids Club family! Our children had the opportunity to learn more about her program and her plans for the future. She played fun coordination games with the kids and shared very interesting stories through books that immediately caught their attention.

We are very excited to see everything she will bring to our children through art, reading, stories, and creativity! 📖🎨

A PATRIOTIC CELEBRATION

This past Wednesday, September 16, our teachers organized a very special Mexican Independence celebration with the kids.

The day started with an entertaining historical presentation by our new teacher Karla, who will soon officially become part of our team.

Then, Teacher Lily talked to the children about the influence of the Black community and its blend with Mexican culture, and how we have an important Afro-Mexican heritage today.

The kids were surprised to learn about the diversity of Mexico and its many communities. Lily specifically explored the rich Afro-Mexican culture found in parts of Guerrero and Oaxaca, where this heritage continues to be very much alive.

She finished her presentation by showing the children “The Mask of Evil” and ended with the traditional Danza de los Diablos from the region.

To finish the celebration, Teacher Abraham and the other teachers organized an Open Mic Karaoke, where the kids had a great time singing traditional Mexican songs. 🎤🇲🇽❤️

ESL ENGLISH PROGRAM — FUNCTIONAL ENGLISH FOR ALL

Teachers Meli and Abraham continued working with the children on their English basics.

This week, we covered numbers 1–100, the alphabet, telling time, and useful everyday phrases to help students begin speaking English.

We also worked on Likes and Dislikes, practicing grammar such as the Simple Present and introducing some Adverbs of Frequency.

This coming week, we will officially begin our classes at Telesecundaria Juan Álvarez.

Our main objective is to start at the A1 Starter level and focus on functional English — giving our adolescents the confidence and practical tools they need to communicate and prepare for future opportunities in the hospitality and tourism world.

Meli also worked with Group A, our younger students, focusing on greetings, introductions, and basic personal information. They also explored different jobs and professions through fun activities.

Meli will also be helping us with our classes at Secundaria, together with Patricia Spencer, a good friend and supporter of Amigos.

👩‍🏫 MEET PATRICIA SPENCER — OUR NEW VOLUNTEER AND LONGTIME FRIEND OF KIDS CLUB

Hi, my name is Patricia Spencer, and I live in La Cruz full-time.

My first experience with Amigos de la Cruz was as the Producer/Director of the Dinner Theater. It was a lot of fun and felt just like being part of a community theater.

I also taught English to children at Kids Club and at Kindergarten Cri Cri, working with 5-year-olds.

Now I have a new adventure: teaching Junior High students at Secundaria. Even though it will be challenging, I am really looking forward to it!

I am a certified teacher from Canada, which gave me the opportunity to teach French and English. I moved to Mexico in 2014 with my husband, who recently passed away. He gave me the courage and inspiration to continue teaching.

My objective is to be memorable in this community and, most importantly, leave a positive mark on the future of these children. ❤️

We are so happy to have Patricia joining us on this new adventure!

🎶 INSTRUMENTS, SOUNDS & MOVEMENT

This week with Lily, the children learned about the Wind and String instrument families.

They were also introduced to the ukulele and participated in musical appreciation sessions and fun activities connecting music and emotions.

In Dance, the children worked on lower-body strengthening exercises, focusing on their legs, as well as spatial and temporal awareness.

Every week, our children continue discovering new ways to express themselves through music, movement, and creativity. 🎶💃

🐶😻 SPAY AND NEUTER CLINIC AT OUR KIDS CLUB

On September 18 and 19, a special spay and neuter clinic took place at Kids Club, giving our children the opportunity to participate, learn, and volunteer.

Guided by Clinic and Kids Club Director Abraham, along with our dedicated volunteers, the children learned about animal care, compassion, and the importance of spaying and neutering.

Our volunteers happily shared their knowledge and experiences, filling the kids with curiosity, inspiration, and a deeper understanding of how they can help animals in their community. 🐾❤️

❤️ NEW PEOPLE, NEW IDEAS, NEW OPPORTUNITIES

At Kids Club, every week brings something new.

From English and music to art, reading, dance, culture, and community, we continue creating opportunities for our children to learn, discover their talents, build confidence, and imagine a brighter future.

Thank you to all our teachers, volunteers, families, and supporters who make Kids Club possible. We are excited for what comes next! 🌟
