Celebrating Creativity, Music, Dance, and Learning at Kids Club! ❤️🎶🎨

At Casa Comunidad “Kids Club,” we continue creating opportunities for children to discover their talents, build confidence, and develop new skills through music, dance, art, and language learning. Here are some of the highlights from our recent activities!

🎵 Music with Teacher Lily

Our young musicians continue developing their musical skills through ukulele practice. They have been working on improving their strumming techniques and have started exploring new chords, including C and G, helping them build a stronger foundation for playing songs.

The students also began learning “El Cascabel,” a traditional Mexican song that introduces them to the richness of our musical heritage. Meanwhile, our youngest students started learning the song “El Colas,” enjoying the process of discovering music through rhythm, repetition, and play.

Every practice session helps our students develop coordination, concentration, and confidence while discovering the joy of making music together. 🎸🎶

💃 Dance: Discovering Mexican Folklore

Our dance classes have been exploring the beauty and diversity of Mexican traditional dance. Students watched videos featuring “El Trenecito,” “Danza de los Machetes,” and “Danza de los Viejitos,” discovering different movements, traditions, and cultural expressions.

They have also begun practicing macheteo, the characteristic movements performed with machetes in certain folkloric dances, and faldeo, the techniques used to move and handle traditional folkloric skirts.

Through these activities, our students are strengthening their coordination, rhythm, and body awareness while connecting with Mexico’s rich cultural traditions. 🇲🇽❤️

🎶 English Through Music and Play with Teacher Meli

Our youngest learners have been exploring the vowels through sounds, songs, and playful activities. By listening, repeating, and singing, children are developing their pronunciation and intonation while expanding their vocabulary with words that begin with vowel sounds.

Learning through music makes language more accessible and enjoyable, helping children build a foundation for future reading, speaking, and communication skills.

At Kids Club, we believe that learning a new language can be a joyful experience when children are encouraged to explore, listen, and express themselves freely!

🇬🇧 English at Telesecundaria with Teachers Abraham and Patricia

Our afternoon English classes at Telesecundaria continue to grow! We now have 45 students registered in our program.

Teachers Abraham and Patricia continue working with students to develop practical English skills that will help them communicate more confidently in everyday situations and prepare for future educational and professional opportunities.

Our goal is to help students develop functional English, with a strong emphasis on communication, conversation, and real-life language skills.

🌎 Introducing Our English Conversation Volunteer Program!

We are excited to begin a new initiative inviting visitors/part-time residents to La Cruz de Huanacaxtle to volunteer in our English conversation sessions.

We believe that interacting with fluent English speakers in a relaxed, welcoming environment will give our students valuable opportunities to practice authentic conversations, improve their listening and speaking skills, and overcome the fear of speaking English in front of others.

Would you like to help our students gain confidence in English?

We welcome volunteers who meet the following requirements:

  1. Fluent English: Volunteers must be fluent in English.
  2. Time commitment: Please be prepared to participate in at least one full hour of real-time conversation with students.
  3. Official identification: Volunteers must bring a valid official ID.

Class schedule:

  • Mondays and Tuesdays
  • 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

If you are visiting La Cruz and would like to make a meaningful contribution to our students’ education, we would love to hear from you!

🎨  Crafts with Teacher Mayra

Creativity is flourishing in our art sessions with Teacher Mayra! Our children have been exploring different materials and techniques while discovering how everyday and recycled items can be transformed into something beautiful.

Recently, the children created stuffed clowns, using eggshells, acrylic paint, and flour as part of the filling process. This hands-on activity encouraged them to experiment with textures, colors, and materials while bringing their colorful creations to life. 🤡🎨

They also put their imagination to work by making fun decorative chains from recycled paper left over from our last summer camp. Through this activity, the children discovered how materials can be reused creatively, giving new life to items that might otherwise go to waste. ♻️🌈

To complete their artistic journey, the children created beautiful watercolor paintings, exploring colors, blending techniques, and their own unique ways of expressing themselves through art.

Each project gives our young artists an opportunity to develop fine motor skills, practice patience, and build confidence in their creativity. Most importantly, they learn that art is not about making everything look the same, but about expressing their own ideas and enjoying the process of creation.

We are proud to see their imaginations flourish with every new project! ❤️🖌️

📚 Reading Club with Teacher Karla

Our Reading and Art Club continues to encourage imagination, creativity, and self-expression through literature and artistic activities.

Recently, our children enjoyed three stories:

  • The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds
  • The Day the Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt, illustrated by Oliver Jeffers
  • What Is the Wolf Doing?, presented through Kamishibai, a traditional Japanese storytelling technique

The children listened to the stories, explored the illustrations in each picture book, and discussed the meaning of a protest. They wondered why the crayons were making demands and expressed their own ideas through creative crayon drawings.

To encourage participation, the children also created their own wooden avatars, which they used when answering questions and sharing their thoughts. This activity helped ensure that every child had an opportunity to participate and that everyone’s voice mattered.

Throughout these experiences, the children reflected on the importance of believing in their creativity, valuing their artistic expression, and recognizing their own efforts and those of others.

They also enjoyed the storytelling and singing experience of What Is the Wolf Doing? through Kamishibai, combining literature, music, and visual art in an engaging and memorable way.

At Kids Club, we want every child to feel that their ideas matter and that their creativity deserves to be celebrated! 🎨📖❤️

🥁 A Special Thank You to Peter and Daniel! ❤️

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Peter Delvecchio and his partner, Daniel, for their generous donation of a digital drum set to Kids Club! 🎶🥁

Music is an important part of our children’s development, encouraging creativity, discipline, self-expression, and teamwork. We are thrilled to add this new instrument to our music program and are certain our kids will enjoy exploring their rhythm, discovering new sounds, and making music together.

Thank you, Peter and Daniel, for thinking of our children and helping us create more opportunities for them to learn, grow, and discover their talents. Your generosity truly makes a difference in our community! ❤️🎵

❤️ Growing Together at Kids Club

Every song learned, dance practiced, story shared, and conversation attempted represents another step toward building confidence, creativity, and opportunity for our children.

Thanks to our dedicated teachers, volunteers, supporters, and community, Kids Club continues to provide a welcoming space where children and young people can learn, discover their potential, and develop skills for a brighter future.
