This past week the children had a carpentry activity with volunteer Jamie. They made wooden animal sculptures. Each piece was a unique creation made from scrap wood pieces and included moving parts. They always love these hands-on activities and taking home their work to show off what they made. The younger children have been working on their writing skills and penmanship as the older children are doing creative writing activities with Mayra. We have also begun preparing for the Day of the Dead and Halloween holidays making decorations for the Kids Club. The feature this year will be a larger than life Catrina inspired puppet made from paper mache. We took the week off from swimming and had some field day activities with Daniel. They had tug of war, relay races, and some other water splashing games to keep cool.
Thanks to Tammy O’Brien for her donation of art supplies and other materials for the kids!
