The children at the Kids Club are learning about manners and respect this week. They had activities centered on how to treat others with respect and conflict avoidance and resolution. They also learned vocabulary and phrases in English and Spanish that show respect in their language classes. The children are working with clay in the art classes. They are creating miniature scenes, crafting models of various spaces such as kitchens, parks, libraries, their bedrooms and other familiar spaces.
We would like to welcome a new volunteer Daniel De La Rosa. He is originally from Phoenix Arizona, but is living here now assisting an elderly resident in La Cruz. He studied at Grand Canyon University, is bilingual, and has spent most of his life volunteering with a variety of organizations helping children, refugees, senior citizens, and animals. The children are enjoying his energy helping with the swim classes, chess club, and has plans to develop a video production class for the older students.
